Psychology Outpatient Clinic

The Psychology Counseling Outpatient Clinic was established in 1991 and is one of the earlier medical institutions in China to systematically undertake clinical services, teaching, and research in psychological counseling and therapy. It currently has one associate chief psychologist and one attending physician. All physicians providing outpatient services have received systematic training in clinical psychology and have worked for many years in psychological counseling, therapy, teaching, and research. They are highly experienced and enjoy a high reputation among their peers both in China and abroad.

Medical specialties:

The treatment principle for psychological illnesses or psychological problems is: psychotherapy as the primary treatment, supplemented by Chinese and Western medications when necessary. Depending on the patient’s specific circumstances, Morita therapy, family therapy, Gestalt therapy, cognitive therapy, behavioral therapy, general supportive therapy, hypnotherapy, interpersonal psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and other psychotherapeutic methods are used individually or in combination. Treatment modalities include individual psychotherapy, group psychotherapy, and family psychotherapy.

Scope of diagnosis and treatment:

1. Mood disorders (such as depression), hysteria, stress disorders, neuroses (such as phobias, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, somatic symptom disorders, neurasthenia, etc.), eating disorders (such as anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, psychogenic vomiting, etc.), non-organic sleep disorders (such as insomnia), non-organic sexual dysfunction, personality disorders, psychosexual disorders, etc.

2. Problems related to work, family, romantic relationships, marriage, and interpersonal communication disorders.

3. Various psychological problems in adolescents.

4. Psychological problems accompanying physical illnesses.

5. Suicide prevention and crisis intervention.

Psychological assessment services:

These include scale-based assessments of symptoms such as anxiety and depression, and psychological tests of personality and character, such as MMPI, EPQ, 6-PF, SCL-90, SAS, SDS, HAMD, HAMA, etc.
