Dermatology
The Department of Dermatology was founded in 1984 by Professor Chen Xitang, former chairman of the Dermatology and Venereology Branch of the Chinese Medical Association. Over the years, thanks to the tireless efforts of the older generation of experts and professors — Chen Xitang, Fan Lianjie, Zou Mingxi, Xu Can, Huang Jingyan, Yang Huilan, Qian Wenyan — and of all the physicians, the department has continuously enriched itself, progressed and developed into a clinical specialty with integrated Chinese–Western medicine as its hallmark. Since 2015, under the leadership of Professor Cui Yong, who joined as department director, the discipline has advanced comprehensively in medical care, teaching and research, forming a "one body, two wings" development model: the dermatology outpatient clinic plus ward at the main campus as the body, and the Hair Medicine Center at the West Campus plus cosmetic dermatology at the International Department as the two wings. Its position in the Fudan and Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences rankings has risen rapidly and has remained stable in the top 20 for the past three years. It undertakes the dermatology quality-control research project of the Medical Administration Bureau of the National Health Commission. The discipline is currently a leading one in China in skin imaging, teledermatology and artificial intelligence for skin diseases, and has developed distinctive strengths in medicine–engineering integration (microneedle development, skincare product development, etc.). The department director is Professor Cui Yong, the deputy director Professor Yang Dingquan, the teaching director Professor Zheng Zhancai, and the head nurse Yao Lin. The department has 2 second-grade professors, 11 chief physicians, 3 associate chief physicians, 5 attending physicians, 5 residents, 5 technicians and 6 nurses.
Outpatient and ward services: The department runs specialty clinics for psoriasis, psoriasis treated with integrated Chinese–Western medicine, hair disorders, scars, acne, eczema, sexually transmitted diseases and cosmetic dermatology. The ward has 10 beds. In 2017 the West Campus launched the Hair Medicine Center and founded the Hair Medicine Alliance. In 2017 cosmetic dermatology was launched at the International Department.
