General Surgery
The Department of General Surgery at Suzhou BenQ Hospital was established in 2013. It has 58 authorized establishment beds and currently 45 approved beds (19 general wards, 3 special-needs wards, and 1 monitored care ward). The department has a well-structured and highly qualified professional team, comprising 19 physicians, including 10 with associate senior or higher professional titles; more than 85% hold master's or doctoral degrees. It also has 12 nursing staff, including 2 charge nurses. The department has now developed into a modern department integrating medical care, scientific research, and education.
The department has comprehensive equipment and facilities, including a 4k ultra-high-definition fluorescence laparoscopic system, a 3D laparoscopic system, an ultrasonic scalpel, a microwave ablation therapy system, an electronic choledochoscope, an electronic duodenoscope, a breast rotary-cutting system, and a breast molybdenum-target mammography unit, among other equipment, greatly enhancing the standard of medical care.
In recent years, the department has focused primarily on multidisciplinary team diagnosis and treatment (MDT) and minimally invasive procedures. By establishing a large general surgery platform and implementing a “specialized treatment for specialized diseases” model, it performs precise disease classification, precise localization, and precise treatment. It has developed subspecialty strengths in gastrointestinal surgery, hepatobiliary surgery, thyroid and breast surgery, and hernia and vascular surgery. Building on its gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary-pancreatic subspecialties, it has also joined with multiple disciplines to establish two distinctive centers: the Metabolism and Weight Management Center and the Hepatobiliary-Pancreatic Disease Diagnosis and Treatment Center.
