Mission of the United Family Pharmacy Department Optimize medication use and ensure medication safety. Provide pharmaceutical care and safeguard patients’ health.
Highlights of Medication Management The Pharmacy Department at Beijing United Family Hospital manages the pharmacy in strict accordance with standard requirements. We stock a wide range of imported and joint-venture medicines, carefully select well-known pharmaceutical manufacturers and reliable suppliers, and constantly consider how to better ensure medication quality.
While ensuring medication safety, we are committed to improving the healthcare experience. Every physician’s prescription undergoes prospective review by a pharmacist, who safeguards patients’ medication use; when dispensing medicines to patients, pharmacists also provide basic medication information and consultation.
We use an electronic prescription management system, which enables complete medication records to be maintained and allows medication-safety issues such as drug allergies and drug interactions to be identified promptly.
Strict Vaccine Quality Control Beijing United Family Hospital maintains full traceability of vaccines. All Category I and Category II vaccines used are procured through arrangements organized by the competent higher-level authorities.
In accordance with relevant laws and regulations and government documents, Beijing United Family Hospital has established a comprehensive vaccine management system. Designated personnel are responsible for vaccine requisition, distribution, storage, and allocation.
Vaccines are transported at 2°C–8°C, with dynamic temperature records maintained during transportation. During storage, an automatic temperature-monitoring system monitors refrigerator temperatures. In addition, manual temperature records are taken once each morning and afternoon, with an interval of no less than 6 hours, strictly ensuring that vaccine temperatures meet refrigeration requirements.
特色服务个性化 At United Family, pharmacists can step outside the Pharmacy Department and become important members of multidisciplinary medical teams, ensuring medication safety for patients from admission through discharge.
【Medication Reconciliation】 At admission, pharmacists collect the patient’s medication history, including prescription medicines, over-the-counter medicines, nutritional supplements, and allergy history. They also assess the patient’s inpatient medication orders to ensure the accuracy and continuity of pharmacotherapy.
【Pain Management】 By collecting the patient’s history of pain medications, pharmacists conduct opioid tolerance screening, provide a basis for physicians to establish pain-relief plans, and guide nurses in dynamically assessing patients’ pain and adjusting analgesic plans in real time.
A multidisciplinary antimicrobial management team led by clinical pharmacists monitors, guides, and provides training on the use of antimicrobials within the hospital. Through the hospital information system, the team collects, analyzes, and reports monthly antimicrobial-use data, while also providing education to patients and their families, thereby safeguarding, as far as possible, the appropriateness and safety of each patient’s use of antimicrobials.
The Pharmacy Department at Beijing United Family Hospital provides services 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, and is always ready to answer patients’ questions about medicines.
We welcome patients to bring expired or no-longer-used medicines from home to the pharmacy, where they will be properly handled by professional staff.
