The Department of Stomatology is a comprehensively developed department integrating medical care, teaching, research, and prevention. Across its three campuses and the sub-center outpatient department, it owns 151 dental comprehensive treatment units and 15 beds in an independent oral and maxillofacial surgery ward. The department has more than 200 medical and nursing staff, including 54 PhDs and 24 chief and associate chief physicians, with a well-structured personnel hierarchy and strong technical capability. The department's specialty setup is complete, with all categories covered: it runs outpatient services in oral and maxillofacial surgery, dental treatment, prosthodontics, orthodontics, dental implantology, pediatric dentistry, periodontics, temporomandibular joint disorders, dental emergency care, international medical services, and VIP medical services, covering 13 stomatological diagnosis and treatment specialties.
The Department of Stomatology is a council member unit of the Chinese Stomatological Association; vice-chair unit of the Community Dental Care Branch of the Chinese Stomatological Association and standing committee member unit of its Orthodontics Committee and Laser Committee; vice-president unit of the Beijing Stomatological Association, the Stomatology Specialty Branch of the Beijing Medical Doctor Association, and the Stomatology Branch of the Beijing Medical Association; director unit of the Joint Stomatology Teaching and Research Office of Capital Medical University; an oral specialty nurse training base of the Chinese Nursing Association; a clinical internship base for the stomatology nursing program of Capital Medical University; a basic-skills training base of the Beijing Stomatological Medical Quality Control and Improvement Center; a stomatology drug clinical trial institution recognized by the National Medical Products Administration; and among Beijing's first batch of standardized general-stomatology residency training bases. The department's teaching office has 2 doctoral training sites (orthodontics and oral and maxillofacial surgery) and a master's site in periodontology, and undertakes nearly 20 provincial/ministerial and municipal bureau-level teaching projects. In technological innovation, the department has undertaken 10 national-level projects, 7 provincial/ministerial-level projects, and dozens of municipal bureau-level and other research projects. It holds 26 authorized patents with 2 technology transfer achievements; over the past 5 years it has published more than 120 professional papers (nearly 60 SCI-indexed). In 2024, the department ranked 19th in stomatology in the China Hospital Science and Technology Evaluation Metrics (STEM).
The Department of Stomatology has won numerous collective honors, including: the Beijing Municipal Health Commission's Advanced Grassroots Party Organization in 2021; the Beijing Hospital Administration Center's Advanced Grassroots Party Organization in 2019; the Beijing Municipal Health Commission's "May Fourth Red Flag League Branch" in 2016; and five-time Beijing Friendship Hospital Advanced Collective and four-time hospital-level Advanced Party Branch titles.
