Neonatology
The Department of Neonatology has a good medical environment, outstanding technical application capabilities, and a high academic level. It is one of the best-equipped and best-conditioned specialized neonatal wards in Hangzhou. It has a complete set of internationally advanced treatment plans and a comprehensive post-treatment medical service system for the treatment of neonatal hypoglycemia, neonatal hyperbilirubinemia, premature infants, neonatal ABO hemolysis, neonatal sepsis, and other diseases. The department works closely with the Department of Obstetrics. From the time pregnant women are admitted for labor until the baby is born, the medical staff of the Department of Neonatology participate throughout the entire process, providing continuous, coordinated, rigorous, and high-quality medical services. Staff are on duty 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, safeguarding childbirth for pregnant women and the birth of their babies.
Advanced Equipment in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
The department is equipped with a complete set of monitoring and treatment equipment, including the SLE 5000 ventilator, non-invasive nasal CPAP ventilator, Giraffe multifunctional incubator (open/closed, two-in-one), and various phototherapy devices (phototherapy box, phototherapy lamp, and phototherapy bed).
Giraffe
The “Giraffe” multifunctional incubator is an internationally advanced neonatal incubator from GE in the United States. When closed, it ensures that the baby remains in a constant-temperature and constant-humidity environment. When the button is pressed, the upper cover of the incubator slowly opens and rises at a uniform speed, while the light shield gradually opens, transforming it into an open incubator. The head and foot sections can be adjusted in height at any time as needed and rotated 360 degrees. The incubator can also display the newborn’s weight information, minimizing the need to move the baby and providing meticulous care for the little one.
Ventilator
The SLE 5000 is a high-end ventilator imported from the United Kingdom. It has both high-frequency and conventional-frequency modes, providing powerful respiratory support for babies with severe breathing difficulties while minimizing lung injury. In addition, there is the German STEPHAN non-invasive assisted breathing ventilator, used to treat babies with mild breathing difficulties and designed to minimize harm to the baby.
Phototherapy Box
It is mainly used to treat pathological jaundice in newborn babies. Its greatest advantage is constant temperature. The LED tubes at the top are arranged in a matrix, providing a stable light source. During the procedure, nurses put a special eye mask and diaper on the baby to protect the baby’s delicate eyes and genital area from injury.
Patient Monitor
It continuously monitors the newborn’s heart rate, respiration, oxygen saturation, blood pressure, and other vital signs, automatically saves the data in the background, and can print it directly for doctors’ reference. It has a dedicated neonatal module and is equipped with neonatal cuffs, making it suitable for newborns in all weight ranges.
Infusion Pump
Newborn babies are delicate and sensitive, so the control of intravenous infusions requires doctors and nurses to perform highly cautious and quantified operations. A professional neonatal infusion pump can control the infusion volume precisely to 0.1 ml per hour. When problems such as blockage occur in the infusion equipment, or when the infusion is about to be completed, it provides both audible and visual alerts.
