Health Examination Center

The Health Examination Center of the Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University was the first specialized health examination center established in Qingdao, on October 18, 2002. Since commencing operations, relying on the hospital’s strong medical resources, integrating the strengths of various specialties, continuously improving hardware facilities, and expanding its scope of services, it has successively provided health examinations for several hundred famous large enterprises and public institutions, tens of thousands of citizens, academicians stationed in Qingdao, and officers and soldiers of troops stationed in Qingdao. With advanced management concepts; high-quality, efficient, scientific, convenient one-stop services; superb medical technology; and comprehensive examination programs, it has won wide acclaim from all sectors of society. After ten years of unremitting effort, the Health Examination Center has achieved leapfrog development in terms of construction scale, medical services, specialty offerings, academic standards, talent development, and medical equipment, and has made remarkable achievements in medical care, teaching, scientific research, and other areas.

2. Talent Structure

The Health Examination Center has a strong talent base and has developed into a high-level group for medical care, teaching, and scientific research, led by professors and supported by a large number of highly qualified young and middle-aged technical specialists, with a full range of specialties. At present, the department has 21 full-time physicians, including 4 with senior professional titles, 8 with associate-senior professional titles, and 8 with master’s degrees. The department has a well-structured talent echelon. Its academic leader is in the prime of life and is a person with a senior professional title who is recognized in the relevant academic field for high academic attainments, outstanding achievements, and the ability to lead the department in accomplishing its established goals.

3. Department Features

At present, in addition to conventional departments such as internal medicine, surgery, ophthalmology, gynecology, otolaryngology, and stomatology, the center is also equipped with first-class instruments and equipment, including cardiac color Doppler ultrasound machines, abdominal color Doppler ultrasound machines, transcranial Doppler instruments, early arteriosclerosis detectors, bone density detectors, gastric Helicobacter pylori detection machines, human body composition analyzers, electrocardiographs, digital X-ray radiography machines, digital gastrointestinal barium meal examination machines, digital X-ray mammography machines, spiral CT, gemstone CT, dual-source CT, PET-CT, tumor marker detection systems, fully automated biochemical detection systems, and the advanced whole-body health scanning system “Yingyan,” which is particularly suitable for subhealth conditions. These provide hardware and technical support for people undergoing health examinations. All equipment is from leading international brands to ensure the quality of examinations and the accuracy of data.

To meet the individualized needs of people undergoing examinations, a variety of examination programs have been scientifically designed based on questionnaires completed at the time of appointment (programs may be added or reduced according to your needs), including customized individualized examination packages as well as examination programs for chronic diseases, specific diseases, preconception preparation, tumor risk screening, and other purposes, thereby meeting the individualized examination needs of people of different ages, genders, occupations, and other characteristics.

Comprehensive post-examination services: The center has expanded from simply conducting health examinations to comprehensive monitoring, assessment, and prevention of health risk factors in healthy, subhealthy, and diseased individuals. It not only establishes a permanent health record for you, but is also connected to the hospital’s HIS system, allowing you to log in to the information platform via the mobile Internet and make inquiries at any time, providing reliable data and convenience for further diagnosis and treatment. For individuals, we provide face-to-face consultation and communication with experts. For group and institutional examinations, we provide a report analyzing and assessing the health status of all personnel; experts can visit the institution to interpret the report and conduct health education and public-health lectures.

As the largest Grade III Class A general hospital in Shandong Province, the Health Examination Center has accurately positioned itself, scientifically planned its layout, optimized its procedures, beautified its environment, and upgraded its equipment in order to adapt to social development and the individualized needs of various groups. In June 2012, it established a VIP Health Examination Department specifically serving the elite.

In 2013, the Health Examination Center of the West Coast Campus officially began operation. As people’s health awareness has increased, more and more people have requested health examinations, and the original center could no longer meet demand. In August 2015, it moved to a new location. The new center is located on Level B1 of the outpatient building of the West Coast Campus, with a building area of more than 2,000 square meters, and is divided into a general area and a VIP area. With advanced equipment, a rational layout, and streamlined procedures, examinees can enjoy one-stop health management services here.

4. Department Honors

Adhering to the principle of “pursuing excellence and providing services with integrity,” the Health Examination Center has gradually developed along a path characterized by high quality, sound management, and excellent performance. In 2011, the Health Examination Center was designated as one of the first National Demonstration Bases for Health Management, and the first in Shandong Province. It subsequently became an expert institution of the Academic Steering Committee for Health Management Demonstration of the China Health Promotion Foundation; the chairing institution of the Health Management Branch of the Qingdao Medical Association; a deputy-chairing institution of the Health Management Branch of the Shandong Medical Association; a standing committee member institution of the Health Management and Physician Insurance Professional Committee of the Shandong Medical Doctor Association; a deputy-chairing institution of the Committee of the Shandong Health Management Quality Control Center; a committee member institution of the Special Fund Management Committee for Regional Health Testing Services of the China Health Promotion Foundation; a committee member institution of the Anti-Aging Group of the Health Management Branch of the Chinese Medical Association; and a council member institution of the China Health Management Association. It plays a leading role in this specialty.

5. Department Activities

While performing its primary duties, the department also actively organizes a wide variety of public-welfare activities. For example, from 2011 to 2015, for five consecutive years, it organized experts from our hospital to conduct the “Hand in Hand” community general practitioner training program for general practitioners in Qingdao and the surrounding counties and districts. A total of 52 sessions were held, with more than 21,000 physicians participating in the training. The department received the Outstanding Organization Award in national evaluations in every year, and was also the only organizing institution in Shandong Province. In May 2016, it successfully held the Qingdao leg of the national public-welfare free clinic activity “Cerebrovascular Health Tour in China,” featuring nationally renowned experts, and received a warm welcome and favorable comments from citizens. In addition, the department regularly conducts “Health Lecture Hall” activities in the hospital outpatient hall and goes deep into various grassroots institutions to provide citizens with public-welfare services such as health education lectures and free medical consultations.

6. Department Research

Through continuous effort and pursuit of progress, the Health Examination Center has also achieved fruitful results in scientific research. It has jointly conducted research on new technologies and new projects with the health examination centers of several renowned hospitals, including the “Multicenter Study on Risk Management of Early Screening for Prostate Cancer in Health Examination Populations,” “Multicenter Application of Thymidine Kinase I (TK1) Technology for Early Tumor Risk Assessment,” “Multicenter Study on Health Testing of Overweight and Obese Adults,” “National Multicenter Study on Helicobacter pylori (C13),” “Vascular Health Management in Chinese Health Examination Populations,” “Multicenter Study of HRA on Cardiovascular System Function in Health Examination Populations,” and “Multicenter Study on Bone Mineral Density.” Over the past five years, it has completed 16 scientific research projects, all reaching domestically leading or advanced levels. It has received 9 Shandong Provincial Medical Science and Technology Awards; published more than 80 academic papers, including 3 indexed by SCI, 6 indexed by CA, 6 indexed by EM, and more than 30 in Chinese Medical Association series journals; applied for 8 patents; and published 10 books. At present, 3 provincial- or ministerial-level projects and 4 national-level projects are under research. Various forms of professional study are regularly held every week to continuously improve professional and technical standards.
