Nanjing Children’s Hospital opened its international medical department at the Hexi campus on October 26, 2026, according to an October 30 notice from Nanjing’s Jianye District government. The service is intended for foreign and overseas people, commercial-insurance members and self-paying patients. The department is among Jiangsu’s first group of international medical service pilots; the new milestone is its opening for patient care.
The department combines international outpatient clinics with a special-needs inpatient ward offering 21 open beds. Separate waiting and consultation areas are available for outpatients. Its services include individual specialist appointments, multidisciplinary consultations (MDT), outpatient care, health examinations and hospitalization, with follow-up management after visits. The 21-bed figure describes the ward’s opened capacity, rather than a reservation of beds for every applicant.
Location, hours and specialties
The department is on the third floor of Building 2 at the hospital’s Hexi campus, 8 Jiangdong South Road, Jianye District, Nanjing. Clinics run Monday to Friday, 08:00–12:00 and 14:00–17:00. The published specialties include pediatric internal medicine, respiratory medicine, urology, ear, nose and throat care, neurology, endocrinology, cardiology, hematology, orthopedics, orthodontics, ophthalmology, burns and plastic surgery, and a health management center.
Booking before attending
All department services require advance appointments; no on-site appointment slots are offered. Families can enter the international department section through the hospital’s official WeChat account to book. The published email route is 17788388215@163.com. The notice asks email applicants to provide the patient’s name, identification details, care needs, preferred time and contact telephone number, and says staff will reply within one working day. This is the stated reply period for the booking request, rather than a guarantee that a requested appointment has been secured.
Commercial-insurance members can also contact their insurer’s customer service to have an insurance representative arrange an appointment and the direct-billing channel. The appointment inquiry telephone number is 025-52862892. Inquiry hours are working days, 08:00–12:00 and 14:00–17:00.
These are special-needs services, priced on a market basis and outside China’s basic medical insurance fund. Only some services support direct settlement with commercial insurance. The notice therefore distinguishes having commercial insurance from having every service covered or directly billed.
For the visit, families are asked to bring the child’s valid identification, previous medical records and examination reports, and arrive early for the booked time. Doctor schedules may change with operating conditions and patient demand. The hospital’s appointment system and latest official notices provide the current schedule.
