The Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine of Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital serves as a clinical medical system integrating medical care, scientific research, and teaching,with a comprehensive range of TCM specialties and a broad scope of diagnosis and treatment,including specialty outpatient clinics for TCM gynecology, TCM spleen and stomach diseases, TCM oncology, a disease-specific outpatient clinic for TCM treatment of pancreatitis, traditional TCM therapies, TCM andrology, and others,as well as joint outpatient clinics for women's health conditioning, anti-aging, and preventive treatment before disease onset,with diverse clinical treatment methods including:oral Chinese herbal medicines,Chinese herbal enemas,external application of Chinese herbal medicines,external washing with Chinese herbal medicines,Chinese herbal fumigation and steaming,acupoint application,auricular points,acupuncture,TCM constitution-based pattern differentiation,TCM dietary conditioning,TCM exercise conditioning,TCM daily-life conditioning,TCM emotional conditioning,and others.At the same time,the Department emphasizes multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary collaboration and maintains in-depth cooperation with relevant departments and faculties of Zhejiang University,conducting long-term in-depth exploration and expanded research in areas including biological agents,traditional medicinal materials,and functional foods for regulating subhealth conditions and preventive treatment before disease onset.In teaching,the Department has long undertaken the TCM teaching tasks for the five-year program,the "5+3" integrated program,the eight-year program,and international students at the School of Medicine of Zhejiang University,and is deeply loved by students;the course "Traditional Chinese Medicine" has been recognized by Zhejiang University as a first-class undergraduate course！ Technical Advantages (1)Tumor prevention and treatment: The Department specializes in using TCM to promote postoperative recovery from tumors,improve patients' physical condition after chemotherapy,provide individualized long-term treatment with integrated Chinese and Western medicine,and use external TCM treatment to relieve hand-foot syndrome after chemotherapy,thereby improving patients' survival status and guiding them in health preservation. (2)Digestive disease conditioning: In the diagnosis and treatment of chronic gastritis,dyspepsia,reflux esophagitis,chronic enteritis,constipation,and other diseases,the Department combines Chinese and Western medicine,provides individualized treatment,and uses TCM theory to guide patients in daily dietary conditioning and health management,promoting recovery. (3)Postoperative recovery after surgery The Department specializes in using internal and external TCM treatment,comprehensively applying oral Chinese herbal medicines,external application of Chinese herbal medicines,acupoint application,auricular seed or bean pressing,and other methods to promote early recovery of gastrointestinal function in postoperative patients,improve patients' sleep status before and after surgery,and assist patients in early postoperative recovery. (6)Preventive treatment before disease onset TCM constitution-based pattern differentiation,TCM dietary conditioning,TCM exercise conditioning,TCM daily-life conditioning,and TCM emotional conditioning are combined with Chinese herbal medicine to treat subhealth conditions,adjust disease states such as chronic fatigue syndrome and sleep disorders,promote the body toward recovery,and provide comprehensive treatment.The Department also emphasizes multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary collaboration and maintains in-depth cooperation with relevant departments and faculties of Zhejiang University,conducting long-term in-depth research into preventive treatment before disease onset using biological agents,traditional medicinal materials,and functional foods. Academic Status Training Base for Physicians of Non-TCM Categories to Study TCM Research Achievements The Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine combines traditional TCM thinking with modern medical models,brings the strengths of TCM into play without being constrained by tradition,continually explores the advantages and opportunities of combining TCM with modern medical technologies,and strives for further innovative development.In recent years,the Department has led 1 project at the department or bureau level and published 7 papers,of which 2 were indexed by SCI.
