Dental Department
Founded in 1993, the Dental Center of Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital Affiliated with Zhejiang University School of Medicine is a comprehensive department integrating clinical care, medical research, teaching for the three clinical tracks, and a provincial standardized residency training base. It has four campuses: Qingchun Campus, Qiantang Campus, Grand Canal Campus and Shaoxing Campus (opening soon). At present, its average annual outpatient volume is about 120,000 visits. It possesses first-class, fully equipped advanced medical equipment and, relying on the Zhejiang University platform, works closely with the School of Dentistry of Loma Linda University in the United States. With four centers and six clinical sub-specialties, it has become a well-known large medical institution in the province. The department currently has 40 doctors, 13 of whom are senior professional technical personnel; 7 hold doctoral degrees and 30 hold master's degrees; nearly half of the physicians have pursued further study in European and American countries. There are 10 dental technicians, 32 dental assistants and 8 dental hygienists. The team has a reasonable academic echelon structure, strong technical strength, and is full of vigor and drive; it is a nationally renowned dental center with distinctive standardized treatment.
Technical Advantages
Four centers (Implant Center, Orthodontic Center, Periodontal Center and Dental Hygiene Center) and six clinical sub-specialties have been established.
Implantology: The department has carried out oral implant treatment for more than 20 years and has rich clinical experience in single-tooth, multiple-tooth and complete edentulism. Adhering to the core contemporary concept of "restoration-driven" oral implantology, it enables patients to obtain restorations that can perform normal oral functions and have good aesthetic results. Featured treatments include immediate implant placement and immediate restoration after extraction, narrow alveolar ridge bone splitting, internal and external maxillary sinus elevation, and aesthetic implant restoration of anterior teeth. It is particularly distinctive in edentulous ALL-ON-4 implant-supported fixed full-arch restoration, edentulous implant overdenture restoration, and digital implant restoration, achieving more precise, safer and more minimally invasive implant treatment and providing patients with higher-quality and more comfortable medical services.
Periodontics: Based on comprehensive oral diagnosis and treatment and specializing in periodontics, and equipped with advanced diagnostic and therapeutic instruments (FLORIDA electronic periodontal probing system, water laser, EMS painless ultrasound and ultrasonic bone knife, etc.), it provides clinically leading techniques such as implant surgery, guided tissue regeneration, guided bone regeneration, bone grafting, free flap transplantation and aesthetic periodontal surgery according to individual patients and differences in periodontal disease types. It has a professional team of dental hygienists providing standardized cleaning, comfortable cleaning, sandblasting and periodontal scaling and other featured services.
Orthodontics: The orthodontic specialty has strong technical strength and routinely opens weekend clinics, achieving seven-day orthodontic outpatient service throughout the week. It carries out conventional projects such as traditional fixed orthodontics, early orthodontics for adolescents and digital bracketless invisible orthodontics, and also provides non-surgical orthodontic treatment of skeletal malocclusion, non-extraction orthodontic treatment, and screening for adenoid hypertrophy in children.
Prosthodontics: It routinely diagnoses and treats tooth defects, dentition defects and edentulism, and carries out featured diagnostic and treatment projects including three-dimensional intraoral digital scanners, computer-aided design and manufacturing of restorations (CAD/CAM), all-ceramic crowns, porcelain veneers, full-mouth occlusal reconstruction, implant dentures, removable dentures and full-mouth BPS.
Pediatric Dentistry: It carries out the application of vital pulp preservation and pulp revascularization in pulp treatment of young permanent teeth, a minimally invasive caries treatment technology system (laser technology, preventive resin restoration, chemomechanical caries removal and indirect pulp therapy, etc.), and pediatric occlusal guidance (early treatment of malocclusion, etc.).
Minimally Invasive Extraction: It carries out surgical extraction procedures such as extraction of complex and difficult wisdom teeth, minimally invasive surgical extraction and orthodontic tooth extraction.
