Breast and Thyroid Surgery

The Breast and Thyroid Surgery Department of Shandong Provincial Hospital was established in 2001. Under the active leadership of Director Tian Xingsong and the joint efforts of successive doctors, it has actively carried out medical-related clinical research, physician training, charity medical care and continuing medical education projects. The talent team has continued to expand. Currently, it has developed two wards, the central hospital ward and the Olympic Sports Hospital ward, with a total of 100 fixed beds. There are 24 doctors in total, including 20 with senior professional titles, 1 with intermediate professional titles, 2 with junior professional titles; and 32 nurses. The average number of outpatient visits per year is nearly 60,000, and the number of inpatients in the two hospitals is about 4,000, ranking among the top in the province. The scope of diagnosis and treatment includes benign and malignant breast tumors, benign and malignant thyroid tumors, benign and malignant parathyroid tumors, etc. The treatment is mainly based on surgery, and it is the first in the province to carry out low small incision thyroid surgery, laparoscopic thyroid surgery, laparoscopic breast surgery, nano carbon negative imaging parathyroid technology and intraoperative recurrent laryngeal nerve monitoring technology. Since its establishment, the department has adhered to the development concept of being based in Shandong and radiating across the country. The two hospitals perform about 4,000 cases of third- and fourth-level surgeries every year, including open radical thyroid cancer surgery, open radical breast cancer surgery, and multiple approaches (transoral, transthoracic, transaxillary) laparoscopic thyroid surgery Gland and parathyroid surgery, laparoscopic radical breast cancer surgery, breast prosthesis implantation surgery, etc., supplemented by nanocarbon negative imaging parathyroid technology, intraoperative recurrent laryngeal nerve monitoring technology, 4D-CT, MRI imaging diagnosis and treatment of primary hyperparathyroidism, etc. At the same time, we actively carry out diagnosis and treatment of difficult cases including giant thyroid tumor resection, salvage surgery for advanced thyroid cancer, MEN syndrome, etc. Our nursing team has specialist characteristics in deepening high-quality nursing services, nursing risk management, smart nursing, and health education. The department has undertaken a total of 23 national, provincial and ministerial level projects, trained more than 140 doctoral and master students, and published 113 SCI/SSCI papers as the first author/corresponding author, with an impact factor >400 points.
