Cardiovascular Medicine Ward 2
The Second Ward of the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine at Peking University Shenzhen Hospital was officially established on May 8, 2017. It is positioned as a clinical discipline integrating medical care, teaching, and research, and has developed into a department that currently provides diagnosis and treatment for cardiovascular diseases including coronary intervention, arrhythmia intervention, cardiac rehabilitation therapy, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, heart failure, myocarditis, and cardiomyopathy. It is currently a holder of high-level certifications such as the National Atrial Fibrillation Alliance Demonstration Center and the National Chest Pain Center. The department has recruited outstanding subspecialty professionals from across China and currently has 14 physicians, including 6 chief physicians, 2 associate chief physicians, 6 doctors with doctoral degrees, and 7 with master's degrees, all from major medical schools in China; it also has several professionals who returned after studying abroad and trainees from renowned cardiovascular centers in China and abroad. Clinically, our department has a range of internationally advanced equipment, including intravascular ultrasound (IVUS), an intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP), the Carto 3 electrophysiological mapping system, and the Bard multichannel electrophysiology recorder. Specialty Advantages and Diagnostic and Treatment Features
1. Interventional treatment of coronary heart disease. (1) Interventional techniques for complex coronary heart disease: interventional treatment of chronic total occlusion lesions (CTO), left main coronary artery lesions, and bifurcation lesions; (2) Interventional adjunctive procedures: rotational atherectomy, cutting-balloon technology, and bedside IABP placement, providing individualized treatment plans for all types of coronary heart disease patients, (3) It performs various high-tech examinations, such as FFR, IVUS, and OCT, to provide more accurate and reliable information and images for precise coronary intervention and to improve procedural safety; (4) In accordance with national standards, our hospital’s chest pain center procedures are strictly followed, and a “green channel” has been opened, greatly shortening the interventional rescue time for acute myocardial infarction and increasing the rescue success rate. Door-to-balloon time (DTB) has been further shortened beyond the required standard; the shortest DTB was 18 minutes, ensuring that patients with acute myocardial infarction receive timely treatment. 2. Electrophysiology Group: (1) Interventional diagnosis and treatment of tachyarrhythmias such as supraventricular tachycardia, atrial fibrillation, and ventricular tachycardia; (2) Using a three-dimensional electrophysiological mapping platform and intracardiac ultrasound, zero-radiation techniques are used for the diagnosis and treatment of arrhythmias, meeting the diagnostic and treatment needs of special patients such as children and pregnant women; (3) A “one-stop” treatment procedure combining percutaneous atrial fibrillation catheter ablation + left atrial appendage occlusion has been performed; (4) Intracardiac electronic device implantation: various pacemaker implantation treatments are routinely performed, with His-bundle pacing as a particular specialty; cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT-D) and left bundle branch pacing improve the prognosis of patients with heart failure; implantation of implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICD) has increased the survival rate of patients with malignant ventricular arrhythmias, and bedside temporary pacemaker placement is routinely performed. 3. Hypertension Group: Routine clinical diagnosis and treatment of hypertension are provided, and some municipal-level hypertension-related research is undertaken. Overall patient satisfaction is good, and the department has achieved a certain brand effect in Shenzhen. In the future, the Second Ward of the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine will uphold the department development strategy of “placing equal emphasis on knowledge and practice, with teaching and learning mutually benefiting one another,” strengthen its own exploration and exchanges and cooperation, and aim to establish a municipal key discipline and a provincial key discipline, striving to improve the clinical, research, and teaching standards of specialty subspecialties such as interventional diagnosis and treatment of coronary heart disease and arrhythmias.
