Neurology
The Department of Neurology was established at the end of 1999 and is a National Advanced Stroke Center, Comprehensive Stroke Center, and hospital-level key discipline. The department currently has 80 operational beds, 6 specialist outpatient consultation rooms, and is equipped with a brain function rehabilitation room, a manual vertigo repositioning room, a botulinum toxin treatment room, a neuroelectrophysiology room, a video EEG examination room, and a TCD bubble study room. Professor Hu Jun is the academic leader. The department currently has 7 chief physicians, 5 deputy chief physicians, 3 postgraduate supervisors, 9 doctors with doctoral degrees, and 9 with master's degrees. Its diagnostic and treatment scope includes cerebrovascular disease, difficult-to-diagnose vertigo, Parkinson's disease and movement disorders, neuroimmunological diseases, cognitive impairment, neuromuscular diseases, headaches, and more. The department has accumulated extensive clinical experience in diagnosing and treating difficult and critically ill patients with neurological disorders. It can provide early rehabilitation treatment for patients with all types of neurological dysfunction and, together with the Department of Neurosurgery, was among the first in China to carry out early combined intravenous and intra-arterial thrombolysis and thrombectomy for ischemic stroke. The technical strengths are as follows:
1. It has accumulated relatively extensive clinical experience in diagnosing and treating difficult and critically ill patients with neurological disorders;
2. It has established a green channel for stroke treatment and carries out ultra-early intravenous thrombolysis, arterial thrombectomy, and other endovascular treatments for cerebrovascular disease;
3. It has 7 functional examination and treatment rooms: a TCD bubble study room, a vestibular function examination room, an electromyography room, an electroencephalography room, an otolith repositioning treatment room, a botulinum toxin treatment room, and a neuromuscular biopsy room;
4. It can provide ultra-early rehabilitation treatment for patients with all types of neurological dysfunction;
5. It performs assessment and video recording for Parkinson's disease and movement disorders and carries out DBS surgery;
6. It provides genetic testing for neurogenetic diseases;
7. It conducts a department-wide grand round and consultation every Wednesday, specifically discussing and resolving the diagnosis and treatment of difficult and critically ill patients;
8. It is a national neurology training base for resident physicians;
9. It is a Ministry of Health clinical drug trial base. The current average daily outpatient volume is more than 300 visits, and the average number of discharges per month is more than 240. In 2021, more than 3000 patients were discharged from the ward.
