The Department of Stomatology maintains extremely strict instrument-disinfection procedures. Our department was among the first of all major hospitals to achieve disinfection of turbine handpieces and scaling-instrument handles once for every patient. In addition, for many years the Department of Stomatology of People’s Hospital has adhered to testing for the four infectious diseases—hepatitis A, hepatitis B, syphilis, and AIDS—before dental cleaning and scaling, thereby strictly preventing cross-infection.
