Bone Surgery Ward 1
Trauma Orthopaedics is a key discipline focusing on the diagnosis and treatment of bone and joint trauma of the extremities, integrating clinical treatment, scientific research, and teaching. As one of the national key disciplines, the department currently has 132 beds and, under the leadership of Director Liu Jianyu and Head Nurse Hou Dongyu, its 31 doctors and 20 nurses form a highly qualified medical and nursing team. The team includes 2 doctoral student supervisors and 8 master's student supervisors, 8 chief physicians and professors, 1 chief nurse, 12 deputy chief physicians, 4 attending physicians, and 6 supervisory nurses. It includes 13 doctors with doctoral degrees and 14 with master's degrees. After years of development and construction, Trauma Orthopaedics has established advanced concepts and techniques, with distinctive professional characteristics, and is at the leading level in the field of trauma orthopaedic treatment within the province.
The department performs a number of highly demanding trauma orthopaedic operations, such as closed reduction and minimally invasive fixation with channel screws for complex pelvic fractures, robot-assisted closed reduction and internal fixation for pelvic fractures, robot-assisted minimally invasive fixation for fractures of the extremities, minimally invasive-approach and single-approach treatment of complex acetabular fractures, minimally invasive intramedullary nail fixation of fractures of the extremities, and other procedures. In addition, we are proficient in reduction and fixation techniques for complex fractures around the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, and ankle joints, minimally invasive intramedullary fixation for hip fractures in older adults, and the use of the Ilizarov bone transport technique and the Masquelet technique to treat bone infections, bone defects, nonunion, and post-traumatic deformities. All these treatment methods and techniques embody the characteristics of precision, minimally invasive treatment, and rapid rehabilitation, and have reached an excellent level nationally and internationally. In terms of academic work and scientific research, the department has established stable research directions covering minimally invasive fracture treatment, pelvic and acetabular fractures, the treatment of osteomyelitis and bone defects, as well as frontier fields such as bone-guided regeneration and composite tissue engineering. We have cumulatively obtained 6 National Natural Science Foundation grants and a total of 35 other nationally and provincially funded projects, and have received more than 20 science and technology progress awards from the Ministry of Health and at the provincial level. The department's medical and nursing staff actively publish academic papers, including more than 100 SCI papers and more than 60 national-level papers. At the same time, we are committed to talent development and have trained more than 20 doctoral students and more than 80 master's students.
In addition, to better meet society's treatment needs for emergency burn and trauma patients, Department of Orthopaedics I, with the strong support of the hospital leadership, established a dedicated burn treatment team and set up a trauma and burn ward. It provides the broad population of burn patients with comprehensive medical services ranging from emergency treatment to long-term care and from surgical procedures to nonsurgical treatment, greatly improving the efficiency of emergency care for patients and expanding the scope of the medical services provided by Department of Orthopaedics I.
