It currently has 1 extracorporeal shock-wave therapy device, 2 Chinese-medicine fumigation beds, and medical equipment including a medium- and low-frequency pulsed direct-current therapy device, semiconductor laser, microwave therapy device, and red-light therapy device. Department specialties I. Range of conditions treated This specialty focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of all kinds of acute and chronic painful diseases and bone-and-joint musculoskeletal diseases, covering a broad range, mainly as follows: (I) Spine-origin diseases Cervical spondylosis, stiff neck, lumbar disc herniation, lumbar spinal stenosis, scoliosis, ankylosing spondylitis, osteoporosis and related pain, acute lumbar sprain, lumbar muscle strain, third lumbar transverse-process syndrome, and sciatica (II) Joint and limb diseases Shoulder: periarthritis of the shoulder (frozen shoulder), rotator cuff injury Elbow: tennis elbow, golfer's elbow Wrist and hand: carpal tunnel syndrome, tenosynovitis (trigger finger) Hip: femoral-head necrosis, hip synovitis, piriformis syndrome Knee: knee osteoarthritis, knee synovitis, and various types of knee pain Ankle and foot: ankle sprain, heel pain syndrome, and Achilles tendinitis (III) Soft-tissue and neurological diseases Myofasciitis and fibromyalgia syndrome; headache, dizziness, and tinnitus (partly cervical in origin); facial muscle spasm, facial paralysis, trigeminal neuralgia, herpes zoster and postherpetic neuralgia, peripheral nerve injury, and leg cramps (muscle spasms); (IV) Rheumatic, immune, and metabolic joint diseases Rheumatic arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and gouty arthritis (V) Postoperative rehabilitation and sports injuries Joint movement disorders caused by soft-tissue stiffness and adhesions after bone and joint injuries, various sports injuries, rehabilitation after arthroscopy, and limb pain and functional disorders resulting from stroke sequelae II. Specialized diagnosis and treatment techniques We have a rich treasury of integrated Chinese and Western medical treatment techniques, emphasizing stepwise, minimally invasive, and individualized treatment. According to the severity of the condition, we give priority to treatment plans that cause little trauma and take effect quickly. (I) Specialized traditional Chinese medicine techniques (the essence of non-drug therapy) Acupotomy Technical highlight: This is the department's core specialty technique. Like a three-dimensional surgical knife, it can precisely release adhesions, relieve compression, and release fascial tension. For diseases with clear pain points, such as tenosynovitis, tennis elbow, periarthritis of the shoulder, and heel pain syndrome, it often produces immediate results. Traditional Chinese orthopedic manipulation and massage Technical highlight: Following the principle that tendons prefer gentleness rather than force, gentle and precise maneuvers are used to reduce joint malalignments (such as lumbar facet-joint disorders and sacroiliac-joint dislocation), combined with sinew-channel massage to realign the fascia, adjusting the force line from its source and resolving neck, shoulder, waist, and leg pain. Acupuncture and special acupuncture techniques Traditional acupuncture: Unblocks the meridians and regulates qi and blood, and is widely used for various pain conditions. Balance acupuncture therapy: By regulating the balance of the brain's central nervous system through acupuncture, it scientifically restores the physiological functions of the various organs. The principle it elucidates is a modern acupuncture theory discovered through research: acupuncture stimulates peripheral-nerve targets, which are regulated by central targets in the brain, and relies on the patient's self-repair. Bloodletting by pricking the collaterals: Quickly removes stasis and drains heat; suitable for heat and excess conditions such as acute swelling and pain after sprains and acute gout attacks. Comprehensive external therapies Acupoint injection: Precisely injects medication into diseased acupoints or pain points, combining acupuncture with drug therapy for a multiplied effect. Thread-embedding therapy: Provides long-term stimulation of acupoints and is suitable for consolidation treatment of chronic diseases and deficiency-cold diseases and for constitutional regulation. Moxibustion, medicinal fumigation, and Chinese-medicine packs: Through the transdermal absorption of heat and medicines, these warm the meridians, disperse cold, promote blood circulation, remove stasis, and strengthen tendons and bones; they are especially suitable for patients with cold-dampness painful obstruction and cold-deficiency constitutions. Cupping therapy: Dispels wind and cold and promotes blood circulation through the meridians; it is commonly used to treat myofasciitis, colds, and soft-tissue strain. (II) Modern precision medical techniques Precision targeted injection techniques Nerve block/joint-cavity injection: Under ultrasound or X-ray guidance, medications (such as ozone, anti-inflammatory analgesic solution, and platelet-rich plasma [PRP]) are precisely injected into the affected nerve root, joint cavity, or lesion to achieve a precise strike, rapidly reduce inflammation and pain, and repair tissue. Physical therapy: The department is equipped with advanced physiotherapy devices, such as shock-wave, medium- and low-frequency electrotherapy, ultrasound, laser, and magnetic therapy equipment, for reducing inflammation and pain, releasing adhesions, and promoting tissue healing. Introduction to the department head: Li Pengfei is head of Pain Rehabilitation Department I of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine (Hanan Branch), deputy chief physician, Doctor of Medicine, and a member of the Communist Party of China.
