The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology was founded in 1951. With strong technical capabilities and distinctive service features, it is a comprehensive clinical department integrating gynecology and obstetrics, and is an Excellent Baby-Friendly Hospital of Zhejiang Province. Since its founding, the department has gradually formed academic thinking and a diagnostic and treatment system with distinctive features and clear advantages, and has cultivated a new generation of obstetrics and gynecology medical staff trained in Western medicine and in integrated Chinese-Western medicine, forming a discipline team with strong technical capabilities, a rational talent structure, and the integration of medical care, teaching and research. The discipline currently has 5 chief physicians, 5 associate chief physicians and 1 master's supervisor, with a well-established talent echelon and diagnostic and treatment team. The department has gynecology and obstetrics wards under it; in addition to routine obstetric and gynecological general outpatient clinics and expert outpatient clinics, it has also opened a pelvic floor therapy and rehabilitation clinic, an integrated Chinese-Western medicine gynecological disease clinic, a joint obstetric nutrition clinic and a breastfeeding clinic. At present it diagnoses and treats gynecological diseases such as threatened abortion, female infertility, pelvic inflammatory disease, cervical disease, menstrual disorders, various gynecological tumors, female endocrine diseases, pelvic organ prolapse and sexual dysfunction, as well as common obstetric diseases, high-risk pregnancy and other difficult and complicated cases; relying on the tuberculosis department and the tuberculosis laboratory, and using combined hysteroscopic-laparoscopic surgery, it can improve its ability to diagnose and treat female pelvic tuberculosis and to assess fertility after treatment. The department has developed traditional Chinese medicine preparations such as gynecological enema solution, gynecological lavage formula, postpartum involution formula, post-abortion involution formula, pelvic floor rehabilitation formula and postpartum lactation-promoting formula, and combined with specialized treatments featuring traditional Chinese medicine such as postoperative analgesic patches and abdominal distension patches applied at acupoints, auricular point seed pressing, acupuncture and moxibustion fumigation, it accelerates the recovery from gynecological inflammation, after gynecological surgery and after childbirth, giving full play to the advantages of integrated Chinese-Western medicine in treating obstetric and gynecological diseases. In 1997 it was established as an Excellent Baby-Friendly Hospital of Zhejiang Province. In 2007 it was listed as a key Hangzhou specialty for "menstrual diseases and cervical diseases", and in 2017 it passed the periodic assessment of Hangzhou Category II key disciplines. It has repeatedly won the Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award, the Provincial Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Progress Innovation Award, the Hangzhou Science and Technology Progress Award and the Hangzhou Medical Achievement Award. It has repeatedly been rated as a hospital-level advanced collective and a Zhejiang Province Women's Civilized Demonstration Post. Obstetrics: The medical and nursing staff have solid theoretical foundations and rich clinical experience. It is one of the earliest departments in Hangzhou to implement rooming-in of mother and infant. It cooperates with multiple disciplines such as neonatology, anesthesiology, ultrasound and the ICU to provide a strong guarantee for maternal and fetal safety. It carries out services such as on-site and online pregnancy schools, eugenics and childbearing counseling, prenatal examinations by experts and famous physicians, newborn touch therapy, transcutaneous bilirubin measurement in newborns, newborn hearing tests, newborn disease screening, newborn swimming and newborn congenital heart disease screening. It has a central maternal and fetal heart monitoring network system covering the delivery room and wards, and performs painless delivery. It provides services such as doula-accompanied delivery, free-position delivery and a warm delivery room. The obstetrics department has an integrated labor-delivery ward, which integrates pregnancy, delivery, postpartum care and newborn monitoring in one warm ward and carries them out continuously, with family members participating in the whole process of labor, delivery and the puerperium, thereby enhancing the family's sense of intimacy and happiness. Gynecology: It has been approved to carry out Level III gynecological endoscopic diagnostic and treatment techniques. It performs various laparoscopic and hysteroscopic gynecological surgeries, such as laparoscopic hysterectomy, myomectomy, adnexectomy, ovarian cystectomy, ectopic pregnancy surgery, diagnosis and treatment of infertility, sterilization, etc.; hysteroscopic resection of submucosal uterine myomas, removal of endometrial polyps, localized endometrial biopsy, treatment of intrauterine adhesions, treatment of uterine malformations, and removal of residual or broken intrauterine devices, etc. In particular, combined hysteroscopic-laparoscopic exploration is used for the diagnosis, treatment and efficacy evaluation of pelvic tuberculosis, and fertility guidance is given to patients whose infertility is caused by pelvic tuberculosis. In addition to gynecological endoscopic surgery, it performs gynecological malignant tumor surgeries including cervical cancer, endometrial cancer, ovarian cancer and fallopian tube cancer, with standardized surgery and thorough resection. In terms of transvaginal surgery, in addition to repair of uterine prolapse, anterior and posterior vaginal wall prolapse and stress urinary incontinence in middle-aged and elderly women, it also performs transvaginal hysterectomy and myomectomy for non-prolapsed uterine myomas. Pelvic floor therapy: Our department is one of the Hangzhou pelvic floor rehabilitation quality control centers. Through pessaries, biofeedback, and electrical stimulation physiotherapy combined with surgical treatment, it provides individualized comprehensive treatment of pelvic floor dysfunction, applicable to urinary incontinence, urinary retention, pelvic organ prolapse, chronic pelvic pain, female sexual dysfunction, constipation, postpartum pelvic floor rehabilitation, etc. Gynecological interventional therapy: used for malignant tumors such as endometrial cancer, cervical cancer and choriocarcinoma, cesarean scar pregnancy, uterine myomas and uterine adenomyosis. It is also used to provide arterial embolization for massive uterine bleeding caused by various obstetric and gynecological diseases, with minimal trauma and good results. Traditional Chinese medicine features: integrated Chinese-Western medicine treatment with traditional Chinese medicine for menstrual disorders, polycystic ovary syndrome, hypomenorrhea, dysmenorrhea, dysfunctional uterine bleeding, female infertility, uterine myomas, endometriosis, perimenopausal syndrome, threatened abortion, post-abortion complications, acute and chronic pelvic inflammation and vaginitis. In particular, the integrated Chinese-Western medicine treatment of vaginitis and pelvic inflammatory disease, and of pelvic floor disorders, has achieved excellent results and won wide praise from patients. Department research directions: 1. Perinatal health care medicine, such as the diagnosis, treatment and rescue of obstetric comorbidities and complications such as hypertensive disorders in pregnancy and gestational diabetes; 2. Gynecology focuses on minimally invasive gynecological medicine, such as gynecological endoscopic surgery including laparoscopy and hysteroscopy, interventional surgery, vaginal surgery, and combined hysteroscopy-laparoscopy for the diagnosis and treatment of female pelvic tuberculosis; 3. Combined surgical and non-surgical treatment of the female pelvic floor and female intimate cosmetic surgery.
