The Physical Examination Department was established in 2002. It is a first-level department of the hospital, located on the fifth floor of the Outpatient Building of the Panyu Campus and on the second and sixth floors of the Outpatient Building of the Yuexiu Campus, with independent service areas. It is equipped with central air conditioning and negative-ion air disinfection. The environment is elegant and welcoming; the waiting halls are spacious and bright; the examination rooms are clean and comfortable; and the physical examination system is convenient and efficient. The department is equipped with advanced physical examination equipment, including color Doppler abdominal ultrasound, transvaginal color ultrasound, dedicated breast color ultrasound, the world’s most advanced dedicated breast MRI at present (only three units in China, with the only one in South China located at this hospital), MRI equipment, a 64-slice spiral CT scanner, a dual-energy X-ray bone densitometer, high-frequency X-ray mammography, an X-ray machine, multi-lead electrocardiography, electroencephalography, nasal endoscopy, hearing screening, a fully automated biochemical analyzer, a gait analyzer, and a large number of other imported devices. Our professional physical examination team is strong. The chief examining physicians consist of a group of highly skilled and ethically outstanding senior experts, together with a group of young and middle-aged clinicians holding senior or intermediate professional titles, with solid professional knowledge and extensive clinical experience. We currently provide physical examination programs in internal medicine, surgery, gynecology, men’s health, ENT and ophthalmology, breast health (ultrasound, mammography, breast MR), electrocardiography, ultrasound diagnosis, radiology (X-ray, CT, MRI), and traditional Chinese medicine constitution identification. In the area of women’s health examinations, up to October 2013, our hospital had received nearly 300,000 female examination clients, detecting 105 cases of various malignant tumors and 5,679 cases of cervical precancerous lesions, thereby accumulating extensive experience in women’s health examinations. Particularly in screening for the two major cancers in women, our hospital was one of the earliest in the province to conduct cervical cancer screening using HPV genotyping detection. Our breast cancer screening process has become a benchmark for breast cancer screening throughout the province and even across the country.
