Reproductive Health and Infertility Outpatient Clinic(天河院区)
The Reproductive Health and Infertility Department (i.e., the Reproductive Medicine Center) of Guangdong Women and Children's Hospital (Guangdong Maternal and Child Health Hospital) was founded in 2000 and is one of the reproductive centers that obtained the Ministry of Health's approval for human assisted reproductive technology at an early stage. The center consists of three parts: clinical care, laboratory, and nursing. It currently has 85 medical staff, including 28 with senior professional titles and 45 with intermediate titles, 23 PhDs (including 4 postdoctoral fellows) and 24 master's degree holders, covering medical experts in female infertility and endocrine disorders, male infertility, embryology, TCM gynecology, and TCM andrology. It has a well-structured talent echelon, strong technical capabilities, advanced medical equipment, and a comfortable care environment. In its early years, the center received personnel training and technical support from reproductive centers in the United States, integrating management concepts from Chinese and Western cultures, with excellent service, diagnosis and treatment, and technology. The center's main services include: diagnosis and treatment of male and female infertility, artificial insemination with husband's sperm (AIH), artificial insemination with donor sperm (AID), in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer (IVF-ET, first-generation “test-tube baby”), intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI, second-generation “test-tube baby”), preimplantation genetic testing (PGT, third-generation “test-tube baby”), blastocyst culture and transfer, assisted hatching, frozen-thawed embryo transfer (FET), percutaneous testicular sperm aspiration (TESA), oocyte cryopreservation, sperm cryopreservation, in vitro maturation of immature oocytes (IVM), multifetal pregnancy reduction, reproductive surgery, and TCM gynecology and TCM andrology diagnosis and treatment, providing a complete series of reproductive medicine services for infertility patients and formulating reasonable and individualized treatment plans; it is the first reproductive center in Guangdong Province to offer the most comprehensive range of assisted reproductive technology programs. To date, it has completed nearly 80,000 treatment cycles of various assisted reproductive technologies, and more than 30,000 test-tube babies have been born. Over the past 5 years, the clinical pregnancy rate of fresh embryo transfer and frozen-thawed embryo transfer for “test-tube babies” was 57-61%, among which the clinical pregnancy rate for patients under 35 was 62-67%; the clinical pregnancy rate of third-generation “test-tube baby” PGT-SR/PGT-M reached 67-70%, and that of PGT-A was 58-61%; the clinical pregnancy rate of donor-sperm IVF was 60-70%, at a leading level both domestically and internationally. The oocyte cryopreservation technology is mature; the clinical pregnancy rate of current frozen oocyte thawing and transfer cycles is as high as 60%, a first-class level in China. The Reproductive Medicine Center at the Panyu campus covers an area of more than 3,000 square meters, with spacious and bright clinical consultation rooms, operating rooms with advanced facilities, warm and comfortable patient rest areas, a high-quality embryo laboratory and embryo cryopreservation rooms, and an accurate and fast andrology laboratory. In particular, the operating rooms and embryo rooms are almost entirely built with imported materials and equipment; the indoor purified environment is nearly perfect, with contamination close to “zero”. During the review and accreditation, the leaders of the Health Commission and the review experts gave high praise. To better provide integrated professional treatment for infertility patients, our center established a reproductive ward in June 2013, becoming the first reproductive center in the province to have a reproductive ward. The ward has 26 beds and mainly admits infertility patients with pelvic and tubal lesions, polycystic ovary syndrome, endometriosis, uterine fibroids, ovarian tumors, etc., who require laparoscopic surgery; infertility patients with uterine cavity lesions (such as endometrial polyps, uterine septum, etc.) who require hysteroscopic surgery; as well as patients who require hospitalization for ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome or threatened miscarriage occurring after “test-tube baby” treatment. In addition to clinical work, the center actively carries out scientific research and teaching: it has successfully held 13 national and provincial continuing education programs, undertook 19 national, provincial, and municipal research projects in the past 5 years, published 149 SCI and core journal papers, edited or co-edited 12 professional books, and is responsible for the training of visiting trainees and graduate students. We are committed to providing infertile couples with better, more comprehensive, and more advanced assisted reproduction technologies. Adhering to the principle of “patient-centered, quality-focused”, we pass on life with love, and exchange our enthusiasm, care, attentiveness, and patience for patients' comfort, confidence, peace of mind, and joy, helping every person with infertility to have their own healthy baby as soon as possible — your success is our greatest gratification!
