Reproductive Medicine
Established in 2009, the Department of Reproductive Medicine is a key department at Dongguan People's Hospital. It is located on the ground floor of the hospital's Comprehensive Building and occupies 2,300 square metres.
The department comprises gynaecology, andrology, an embryo culture laboratory, an andrology laboratory and an immunotherapy laboratory. It has advanced equipment and a strong technical team, including 11 staff with senior professional titles and 14 with intermediate titles; 3 have doctoral-level education and 8 have master's-level education.
The department primarily diagnoses and treats infertility caused by a range of male and female factors. Bringing together advanced and highly specialised techniques, it is a specialist medical institution approved by the Ministry of Health to formally provide in vitro fertilisation and embryo transfer, intracytoplasmic sperm injection, commonly known as test-tube baby treatment, artificial insemination and fertility preservation.
Since introducing assisted reproductive technology, the department has provided assisted conception treatment to more than 10,000 couples with infertility. Its current clinical pregnancy rate is 17.9% for artificial insemination, 52.0% for fresh embryo transfer in IVF and 51.7% for frozen embryo transfer. The survival rate of thawed frozen embryos reaches 98.47%. These figures mark the hospital's IVF technology as being at an advanced level nationally.
