Gynaecology
Drawing on the strength of our hospital, the largest Grade III Class A comprehensive medical research university-affiliated hospital in the Liaonan region, and making full use of our hospital’s domestically first-rate and internationally advanced instruments and equipment, we integrate the capabilities of the strong Imaging, Pathology, Laboratory Medicine, Internal Medicine and Surgery, Interventional Medicine, Nuclear Medicine, and other relevant departments. By leveraging the advantages of multidisciplinary integration and collaboration, we implement a multidisciplinary team treatment model to provide patients with standardized and advanced medical services. The department’s standardized, rational, and individualized treatment of gynecologic tumors is at a leading level in Dalian; the control of preoperative comorbidities in patients with difficult and severe gynecologic conditions, perioperative management, the completion through multidisciplinary collaboration of surgery for gynecologic malignancies involving multiple organs, as well as postoperative chemotherapy and follow-up, are all at a leading level in Dalian. As a national clinical pharmacology base, we also continuously participate in international clinical trials of new antitumor drugs, gaining early access to innovative antitumor drugs and treatment regimens first developed through international research and development, thereby providing new treatment options for patients with drug resistance or recurrent disease.
As the only institution in Dalian receiving patients referred from hospitals at all levels, and as Dalian’s gynecologic oncology diagnosis and treatment base, we keep abreast of the international forefront of treatment for gynecologic malignancies, follow the latest edition of treatment guidelines, and provide standardized treatment for gynecologic malignancies. Relying on a multidisciplinary team’s mechanisms for comprehensive assessment, consultation, and management of general health, organ function, and psychological status before surgery and chemotherapy, we have successfully performed a large number of operations on elderly and high-risk patients with tumors, including those with severe cardiopulmonary comorbidities, myasthenia gravis, hematologic diseases, and other conditions, as well as surgical resection of lesions involving the vasculature and the urinary and digestive systems, thereby ensuring the quality of medical care. As one of the institutions participating in the National Cervical Cancer Collaborative Working Group, we were among the first in Dalian to conduct serologic testing for the novel tumor markers SCC and HE4, the HC2 method and genotyping for high-risk HPV infection of the cervix, cervical smear TCT, and hTERC gene testing. We also use colposcopy, three-dimensional color Doppler ultrasonography, MRI, PET-CT, and other examination technologies to achieve accurate preoperative clinical staging and reliable postoperative follow-up. For cervical cancer, we provide comprehensive treatment including surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy, and interventional therapy. We have applied vascular interventional therapy to gynecologic tumors and patients with perioperative venous thrombosis, including preoperative or intraoperative arterial catheter chemotherapy for tumors, embolization of the tumor blood supply, preoperative placement of inferior vena cava filters in patients with lower-extremity thrombosis, and arterial embolization for patients with advanced tumors and massive hemorrhage, among other techniques. In recent years, we have successively introduced advanced oncologic diagnosis and treatment techniques such as laparoscopic radical hysterectomy and pelvic lymph node dissection; contrast-enhanced ultrasonography for the diagnosis and preoperative assessment of malignant tumors and for guiding radiofrequency and microwave ablation; laparoscopic ultrasound-guided intraoperative ablation; and fertility-sparing radical surgery for cervical cancer. Relying on our hospital’s strong comprehensive capabilities, our comprehensive treatment of gynecologic tumors has a clear advantage in Dalian.
In addition, in the treatment of pelvic floor disorders, we were among the first in Dalian to carry out comprehensive treatment measures such as novel and minimally invasive pelvic floor surgery and biofeedback electrical stimulation. In gynecology, reproductive genetics, and endocrinology, our basic research and clinical work over the years in recurrent miscarriage, assisted reproductive technology, perimenopausal hormone replacement, polycystic ovary syndrome, and other areas have achieved notable success. The department has strong scientific research and clinical practice capabilities and has obtained approval for numerous research projects, including projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation. For more than 10 consecutive years, it has conducted national- and provincial-level continuing education courses, making outstanding contributions to advancing the level of gynecologic diagnosis and treatment in Dalian and the Liaonan region.
