Over the years, multiple young and middle-aged core members have been sent for advanced training to well-known hospitals in China and abroad, including Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Princess Margaret Hospital in Hong Kong, Peking University First Hospital, and the Capital Institute of Pediatrics. This has further improved the development of the discipline and strengthened the training of pediatric reserve personnel. The department has 1 head nurse and 25 nurses, half of whom have bachelor's degrees or higher. Most are professional personnel who have worked in pediatric and neonatal nursing for many years and have extensive experience in pediatric nursing, resuscitation, and emergency situations. During the past 5 years, multiple staff members have been sent to well-known neonatal specialty wards in China for study and further training. This has strengthened the standard of pediatric nursing.
The department undertakes multi-level teaching for undergraduates, graduate students, international students, and others from multiple disciplines of Dalian Medical University and Dalian Medical University Zhongshan College, and has trained a large number of medical professionals for the country. It has organized multiple municipal pediatric medical lectures. It has undertaken 5 national-, provincial-, and municipal-level projects, participated in compiling 6 books, and publishes more than 10 academic papers each year. The department holds internal lectures every week, regularly conducts case discussions with other departments within the hospital, sends department personnel to relevant auxiliary departments for study, and invites professional skills instructors to provide regular departmental skills training. This enables doctors at all levels and trainees receiving further standardized training to master relevant knowledge and techniques proficiently.
As Dalian City's emergency center for critical illness rescue and major events, the hospital keeps pediatric outpatient and emergency services open 24 hours a day. It organically integrates prehospital emergency care with in-hospital rescue, remains patient-centered, and provides patients with timely, effective, and comprehensive treatment in the shortest possible time. As a screening unit for special diseases, it provides testing and drug treatment, as well as family follow-up.
