Heart Center
The Heart Center of Beijing United Family Hospital comprises specialists in cardiology, cardiac surgery, cardiovascular intervention, cardiac rehabilitation, psychocardiology, and cardiac ultrasonography. We consistently follow international clinical guidelines and adopt internationally standardized diagnostic and treatment strategies. We have extensive clinical experience and advanced treatment techniques in the diagnosis and treatment of coronary heart disease (angina pectoris and myocardial infarction), structural heart disease (heart valve disease and cardiomyopathy), congenital heart disease (atrial septal defect, ventricular septal defect, patent ductus arteriosus, patent foramen ovale, tetralogy of Fallot, etc.), various arrhythmias (atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, supraventricular or ventricular tachycardia, conduction block, sick sinus syndrome, various premature beats, bradycardia, and irregular heartbeat), hypertension, heart failure, hyperlipidemia, cardiac neurosis, and other conditions. The examinations currently available at the Heart Center include routine electrocardiography, echocardiography, treadmill exercise testing, stress echocardiography, cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET), ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, 24-hour electrocardiography (Holter monitoring), long-term electrocardiography (continuous ECG monitoring for 1 to 30 days), peripheral arterial function testing (assessment of the degree of arteriosclerosis), coronary CTA and CT-FFR (measurement of the coronary fractional flow reserve using CTA results), cardiac magnetic resonance imaging, and intelligent psychocardiology assessment. The Department of Cardiology routinely performs coronary angiography, percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty, stent implantation, rotational atherectomy, excimer laser procedures, measurement of coronary fractional flow reserve (FFR), drug-coated balloon treatment of the coronary arteries, bioabsorbable stent implantation, intravascular ultrasound (IVUS), optical coherence tomography (OCT), temporary and permanent cardiac pacing, leadless pacemaker implantation, implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) implantation, transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), cardiac electrophysiological studies and radiofrequency ablation, as well as radiofrequency ablation and cryoballoon ablation for atrial fibrillation. The Department of Cardiology and the Emergency Department have jointly established a fast-track pathway for the diagnosis and treatment of patients with acute myocardial infarction. The establishment and activation of this pathway means that Beijing United Family Hospital can complete the diagnosis and interventional treatment of myocardial infarction within a short period of time, promptly reopen the infarct-related artery, reduce the incidence of fatal complications of acute myocardial infarction, improve patient outcomes to the greatest extent possible, increase the rescue rate for patients with myocardial infarction presenting to the emergency department, and gain valuable time for saving lives. Cardiac surgery includes various complex congenital heart procedures, on-pump and off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting (for the treatment of coronary heart disease and congenital valve disease), valvuloplasty for degenerative valves (for the treatment of heart valve disease), and minimally invasive small-incision coronary artery bypass grafting. In particular, minimally invasive small-incision techniques for the treatment of pediatric congenital heart disease are widely welcomed. The Heart Center of Beijing United Family Hospital currently has 7 full-time cardiology specialists and 20 part-time cardiology specialists. All have more than 15 years of clinical experience and overseas training and work experience. Integrating medical care, teaching, and research, they provide patients with cardiovascular disease with diagnostic, treatment, and emergency rescue services for common diseases as well as difficult and critical conditions. The Heart Center consistently adheres to the evidence-based medical philosophy of “people-centered care” and “the patient’s interests above all else.” The cardiology, cardiac surgery, and rehabilitation teams work closely together and collaborate to develop individualized, high-quality diagnostic and treatment plans for every patient, providing warm and convenient medical services.
