Prosthodontics

The Department of Prosthodontics currently comprises five major inpatient units: Shinan Campus, Laoshan Campus, West Coast Campus, Jiangxi Road Campus, and Pingdu Campus. It currently has 19 physicians, more than 90% of whom hold doctoral degrees. It is now a national standardized residency training base for prosthodontics, an authorized doctoral program and master's program for professional degrees in stomatology, and the Shandong Provincial Regional Medical Center for Oral Specialties. The levels of medical care, teaching, and research are leading, and the department plays an important leading role in prosthodontics in Shandong Province. In recent years, it has successively obtained numerous honors and achievements, including the Taishan Scholar Young Expert title, the Qilu Health and Wellness Outstanding Young Talent Award, the Shandong Medical Science and Technology Award, and the Qingdao Science and Technology Progress Award. Many members of the Teaching and Research Section of Prosthodontics hold important academic appointments in the Prosthodontics Professional Committee, Dental Materials Professional Committee, and Geriatric Dentistry Professional Committee of the Chinese Stomatological Association; the Dental and Maxillofacial Medical Aesthetics Branch of the Chinese Association of Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery; the Professional Committee of Oral Equipment and Technology of the Chinese Association of Medical Equipment; the Oral Implantology Special Committee of the Oral Technology Section of the National Health Technology Promotion and Application Information Service Platform; the Stomatology Branch of the Shandong Medical Association; the Prosthodontics Professional Committee and General Dentistry Committee of the Qingdao Stomatological Association; as young editorial board members of the Chinese science and technology core journal Journal of Precision Medicine; as review experts in the CNKI Review Expert Database System/CNKI Review Experts; and in the Editorial Department of Journal of Precision Medicine, among others. Director Ma Lei is the academic leader of the department and a renowned domestic expert in prosthodontics. Under Director Ma Lei's leadership, our department's overall strength in clinical care, research, teaching, and other areas ranks among the best in the province. The department has extensive clinical experience and specializes in implant prosthodontics, fixed prosthodontics, removable partial denture prosthodontics, complete denture prosthodontics for edentulous jaws, complex occlusal reconstruction prosthodontics, and other techniques. It also has extensive clinical experience in the diagnosis and treatment of difficult and complicated diseases. Professional specialties: 1. Crown restoration for tooth-structure defects: all-ceramic crowns, porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns, metal crowns, and others. 2. Various types of denture restoration after defects or loss of the dentition: fixed prostheses, implant prostheses, adhesive bridges, removable prostheses, complete dentures, precision-attachment dentures, and others. 3. Minimally invasive esthetic restoration of teeth: veneers, inlays, and others. 4. Digital (CAD/CAM) restorative treatment technology. 5. Individualized diagnosis and treatment technologies using implant prosthetic restoration for dentition loss or defects accompanied by jawbone defects, and others.
